Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on May 16, 1977, in New Zealand. She is famous for her humorous, soft-spoken, but strong characters. She works primarily in films that are independent. Her accolades include the New Zealand Film Award, and a Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award, Critics' Choice Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey made her film debut starring as the teenage murderess in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to the United States in 1994, Lynskey made a name for herself as a supporting actress in a wide range of high-budget and smaller-scale productions, including Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered Glass (2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey was nominated for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and was awarded acclaim by critics for her performance as the depressed divorcee in The Goodbye I Must be Going (2012). This was an important moment in her professional career. The subsequent lead roles she played in were Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes I'm Not In This World Anymore (both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), and Lady of the Manor (both 2018) established her as an important figure in the American independent film scene. Lynskey's performance as Rose in CBS' sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) earned her fame. She was the star of Togetherness from 2015-2016, and she was nominated by Critics' Choice Television Awards for the Best Supporting Actress. Megan and Beatrice voiced her characters on Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014). (2016-2018). She also appeared as Molly Strand on the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) and as Rosemary Thomson in the FX miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
