Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was born in Glen Ellyn in Illinois and was raised in Chicago. Amy resided in GlenEllyn the city of Illinois, up until she entered junior college. There, her family also lived in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at the American School. Amy has two sisters, Betsy and Lori, and a younger brother, Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe together with her family as well as on her own. Both of her parents worked as teachers so they could enjoy every summer camping together and travel all across the United States. They've camped across every state except Alaska. Amy was sent to Rwanda to assist in relief efforts following the war of 1994. Amy was a skilled actor in school productions and was a winner of writing contests. She was a talented athlete in high school and participated in the first ever 3200-meter relay at the Illinois girls track. In college, following an injury, she was back in the theater , playing a variety of roles on stage starting with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and also directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) Cum laude and graduated with an A.A. East Asian history with a specialization in Theater. Following graduation, she moved to Chicago where she studied Improv at the Improv Olympic. Additionally, she studied acting at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation she was offered a contract on the soap series Another World (1964). She has been nominated to win a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in an Daytime Drama Series". The most memorable characters were those played by women who are strong, such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and she is part-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to write as well as explore diverse and original roles in the world of film.
