Paula Patton
Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles,
California, to Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is
African-American while her mother is caucasian and is of German, English and
Dutch ancestry. Her family lived across the street from the 20th Century Fox
lot when she was young and she was a fan of movies from her early childhood.
Her mom was a teacher , and her father was an attorney. Paula said that she
attempted to escape as an infant through "pretending" to pretend to
be someone else than. So it is no surprise that she was a part of Hamilton
Magnet Arts High School plays. Her most loved role was "Abigail" from
"The Crucible". She went on to pursue a film degree at the University
of Southern California in the summer program and won a 3-month assignment
making documentary films for PBS. Then, she was hired as a production assistant
for TV documentaries and Howie Mandel's talk-show. Later, she made
documentaries for Medical Diaries (2000 on Discovery Health Channel). Paula
claims she enjoys what she does, but she is still aspiring to be a performer.
She was almost immediately successful, playing major roles in Hitch (2005),
Idlewild (2006), as well as the lead female role in Deja Vu (2006) opposite
Denzel.
