Rochon was the sole child born to Zelma Staples. An entrepreneur, she is also the daughter Zelma's nurse practitioner. Cerritos high school located in Cerritos was where she graduated from. She completed her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, with a minor in sociology and theater from California State University Dominguez hills (CSUDH). Rochon was the keynote presenter at CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities commencement ceremony in 2016.

Ullerup was cast in the role of Julia Brynn, a character in the remake show Battlestar Galactica that aired 2006 on Sci Fi Channel. The character she played, Ashley Magnus, was written out of Sanctuary's first and second seasons. Her departure remained a topic that caused heated discussion among the supporters, with many of them wanting her brought back for future episodes up until the show's cancellation in 2012. Ullerup appeared in Chesapeake Shores as Bree O'Brien. Ullerup was cast as Maggie Thomas, Michael Thomas' estranged spouse, for Asteroid: Final Impact (2005). Ullerup, who has a part in the film as Dale Travers, is one of the characters who appear in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered, movies since 2016.
